[SDL] Application's Window [X] (close) button does nothiing ???

Application's Window [X] (close) button does nothing ???
 
 
Hi,
 
I am making a Tetris game using S.D.L. 1.2.9 for the PC Windows  platform.
 
The game is run in a 640 x 480 window.
 
When I run the game and try to click on the window's [X] button to close  the 
application, nothing happens ??? (the mouse click is registered by the [X]  
button, but the application's window does not close/exit)
 
Do I need to read for this as an event and close the application manually  ?
(currently I allow user to exit program by pressing the [Esc] key on  
keyboard)
